Kalia Yojana is an initiative of Odisha Government which is started from 2018-19. Now Odisha Government has extended this scheme for the next 3 Years so that other farmers, who have been deprived from this scheme, get the financial support for their farming.

KALIA Yojana is a major scheme launched by the Government of Odisha for the economic and social security of farmers. The full name of this scheme is “Krishak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation Scheme”. This scheme has been launched mainly with the aim of helping small and marginal farmers, landless agricultural laborers, and other disadvantaged sections.

Under this scheme government will be provide overall ₹ 25,000 in a year. This 25,000 Rs. Will be allotted to farmers and laborers in instalments.

The goal of the scheme is to improve the agricultural sector, increase the income of farmers and improve their standard of living. Through this, various financial and non-financial assistance is provided to the farmers, so that they can carry out agriculture related activities smoothly.

The main objectives of Kalia Yojana are as follows:

Stability of agriculture: To make their agricultural activities smooth and profitable by providing financial assistance to farmers.

Income growth: To provide new opportunities for income growth for small and marginal farmers in the agricultural sector.

Agricultural loan: To free farmers from the burden of debt by providing them loans without interest.

Social Security: Ensuring the safety of farmers and their families through life insurance and accident insurance cover.

Other means of livelihood: Encouraging agriculture as well as other small businesses such as animal husbandry, fisheries, mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, etc.

The Kalia Scheme (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) is a government initiative launched by the Odisha state government to support farmers and enhance their livelihood.

Farmer Status: The scheme is primarily for farmers, including small, marginal, and landless farmers.

Land Ownership: Farmer’s with land holding up to 5 acres are eligible for assistance. Landless agricultural laborers are also included, as they are provided support under the scheme.

Age Limit: Beneficiaries should generally be between 18 and 60 years of age, though this can vary depending on specific components of the scheme.

Resident of Odisha: The applicant must be a resident of state of Odisha.

Income Status: The Aplicant’s farmer income should be less then 2 lakh per annum.

Verification Process: Applicants must be verified under government records and databases, including Aadhaar linking and land records, to be considered eligible.

The following benefits are provided to farmers under the Kalia Yojana:

Financial assistance: Small and marginal farmers are given an amount of ₹5,000 per season, which amounts to a total of ₹10,000 in a year. This amount helps farmers to meet the cost of cultivation.

Assistance for landless farmers: Landless agricultural laborers are provided assistance of a total of ₹12,500 in three installments. This amount is given to them to invest in other livelihood means, such as animal husbandry, fish farming, mushroom cultivation, etc.

Debt waiver and interest-free loan: Interest-free crop loan up to ₹50,000 is made available to farmers. Along with this, the loan already outstanding on them is also waived off (Krishi Jagran).

Insurance protection: Under the scheme, farmers are given a life insurance cover of ₹2 lakh and an accident insurance cover of ₹2 lakh. This insurance is for farmers aged 18 to 50 years, in which they pay only ₹6.

Education assistance: Scholarships are given to the children of farmers for higher education, so that they can get higher education and become self-reliant.

Kalia Yojana Official website is still in under maintenance mode but after some time you can apply for it by website by following the given steps below.

  • After that scroll the page and you will get Apply Online option. You have to click on that option.
  • Now enter your Aadhar card number and mobile number and click on submit button.
  • The next page will be open where you can see a form. You have to fill all the information asked in the online application form correctly. Such as Aadhar card number, bank account details, land papers etc.
  • Now in the next page you have to upload the required documents like Aadhar card, bank account details, mobile number, and identity card.
  • After submitting the application, you can also track your application status by visiting the website.
  • Now your application will be done successfully.

To apply offline for Kalai Yojana, you have to go to your nearest Gram Panchayat or Agriculture Department office. From there you will get the Kalai Yojana form.

In this form, you have to fill in the complete information and attach the copy of the required documents. Then, you have to submit this form in the Agriculture Department office or Gram Panchayat.
